Our Pack is sponsored by Friends of Pack 585 and meets as a pack once a month, usually on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM at Creech Elementary in the cafeteria. Individual dens will meet weekly based on grade level & rank and leader preference.
The “Pack” is our large unit, usually about 30 - 50 boys. The Pack is split into smaller groups of 8-10 boy units called dens, based on their age and if possible, neighborhood locale. These dens, as well as the Pack, are run by volunteer leadership. Cub Scouting is a neighborhood centered, family oriented program that gives the boys the opportunity for many experiences while learning to become good citizens. The achievements for rank advancement are packed full of boy adventures through which the boy learns by doing while having fun.
If not called upon to be a leader, you will be asked to fill a committee or activity position. We are an active group that runs on the steam of our adult volunteers who, just like you, have other commitments (job, family, sports, church, etc.) that compete for their time. However, just as for the boys, the time you devote to Cub Scouting will be fun and rewarding.
Boy Scouts of America is a family organization. Some of the Scout achievements will be done at home with the parents. Parents are expected at Pack Meetings (once a month); siblings are invited and welcome at Pack Meetings. The Pack leadership (committee members and Den Leaders) are all parent volunteers. For each den (about 8 boys), we need a Den Leader, an Assistant Den Leader, and a Committee Member. Free training is provided and lots of support is available.
